Ep. #94: Toamowhai (and other Seeker, Slayer, Survivor DLC Lore)
The World of Eora is a news & lore podcast about the fantasy setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
This week's episode focuses on the "Seeker, Slayer Survivor" DLC for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. The focus is going to be on the 'god' of Toamowhai, but it will also include lore on the surrounding island (Kazuwari) and the Temple/Crucible you spend a lot of time at (Temple of Toamowhai), as well as the story of what's going on there.
The first portion of today's episode are spoiler-free, but be warned the second portion contain MAJOR SPOILERS for the DLC of this game, so keep that in mind moving forward.
Ep. #93: Naasitaq and Sagani
The World of Eora is a news & lore podcast about the fantasy setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
In this week's episode I focus on one of the nations within the world of Eora setting. It's one we hear about a lot, but don't actually have a single substantial source of lore for. There's a lot to be said, however, when you add it all up. After discussing Naasitaq and its culture, I redirect attention to a Pillars of Eternity (1) companion character, Sagani, and discuss her particular story.
Ep. #92: The Great Reef
The World of Eora is a news & lore podcast about the fantasy setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
This week's episode is about "the Great Reef", a naturally occurring structure of the Deadfire Archipelago which may hold deeper secrets than we know. This lore, as far as I can tell, is only found in the Guidebook for Pillars, and not the game itself. So, this may be new info for a lot of us!
Ep. #91: A War of Saints (not to be confused with "The Saints War")
The World of Eora is a news & lore podcast about the fantasy setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
This week's episode we pit several religious figures from the world of Eora's histories against each other to ask "who would win a fight"... Maybe not a 'fight' as in 'fisticuffs', but in terms of subduing one another. We have five interesting characters throughout Eora's history, each with their own unique abilities that they can bring. Aside from that, the lore behind each character is also interesting for new and old players alike. Hope you enjoy today's episode!
Ep. #90: Sea Shanties of Deadfire
The World of Eora is a news & lore podcast about the fantasy setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
NOTE: there's an important question near the end of the episode (in the 44min area) that I'd like some feedback on.
This week's episode was very randomly decided upon, but the bottom line is: in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire there are some sea shanties you hear sung when sailing throughout the Deadfire Archipelago (the setting for that game). While the lyrics to these songs aren't plumbing the depths of esoteric lore, they do allude to ideas and moments that occur within this fantasy world; and I think it's writing like that which really gives life to a fictional world. So, in honour of that, let's take a look at the lyrical content for the Sea Shanties from the second Pillars of Eternity game...
Ep. #89: The Shieldbearers of St. Elcga
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy world/setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
In this week's episode we focus on a particular Paladin order within this world (Paladins being individuals you'd classify as "martial zealots"), "The Shieldbearers of St. Elcga". We learn a little bit about their origins, what they stand for, what they condone. As well a bit about the history of this noblewoman, Elcga, in Aedyr's history...Aedyr being the empire that you Avowed player character will hail from.
Ep. #88: The Legendary Adventures from Caed Nua
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy world/setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode breaks down five off-screen adventures from the first Pillars game. These five adventures are of the "Legendary" tier in the game, and as such they have a lot of really interesting and esoteric lore to go over. Honestly, they create more questions than provide answers, but sometimes it's that speculative lore that really gets you into this stuff, ya know?

Ep. #87: Skuldrs & Trolls
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy world/setting as developed by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed
Today's episode touches on the last of the main creatures we see in the bestiary for Pillars of Eternity, both of these creatures have decent precedence set for being in Avowed (but whether they are or not, we don't yet know). So I figured, worth taking a look at. Skuldrs are kind of a person-sized humanoid bat creature, the Trolls are... well, trolls! But we discuss/speculate a little on how it is they regenerate health.

Ep. #86: Animats, Flesh Constructs, and other Vessels
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy world/setting developed by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
This week's episode discusses the remainder of the creatures in the "Vessel" category in the bestiary. Vessel creatures are basically things/people that have a weird relationship to a soul being implanted in them (or not leaving when it should) causing a new type of creature/thing to exist as a result. It's very interesting, and tied deeply to important lore/topics in the world of Eora (souls, metaphysics, animancy, etc.)

Ep. #85: Giatta Castell
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode we look at the other confirmed Avowed companion: Giatta Castell. In looking at her short bio in her Cosplay Guide (which you can find on Avowed's website) we learn a bit about who she is, where she (or more specifically, where her family) comes from, and what's going on in her life (recently).
Topics today are:
- Animancy (the science of the soul)
- Vailian Republics (a nation/faction in the world)
- Ocean Folk (a subspecies of human)

Ep. #84: Kai, our beloved Coastal Aumaun Companion from Rauatai
The World of Eora is a lore podcast about the fantasy setting/world developed by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode we take a brief look at Kai, and look behind his single paragraph of lore (from the Kai cosplay guide) to understand who he is, where he comes from, and all that entails. This episode is MOSTLY a discussion on RAUATAI, the empire that Kai would hail from, and the culture that influences his character in the game of Avowed.

Ep. #83: Abilities Overview from Avowed Trailers
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting for Obsidian Entertainment's cRPG 'Pillars of Eternity' series, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode focuses a little more on gameplay and a little less on lore - but don't worry, there'll still be some lore to go over. In this episode we will review over a dozen abilities seen in Avowed's trailer(s), and look at how those abilities worked in Pillars to speculate on how they might work for the upcoming game.

Ep. #82: The Living Lands (Avowed's Setting)
The World of Eora is a lore podcast about the unique fantasy world created by Obsidian Entertainment for use in their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode takes a dedicated look at the setting for Avowed: THE LIVING LANDS. Now, I did cover a lot of this lore in episode two, but that was...three years ago now, and was more speculative than this episode is. I hope you enjoy learning about the setting Avowed will be played in, and it got your imaginations going about what we might get to see in the game.

Ep. #81: A Deep(er) Dive into Avowed!
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting developed by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
In today's episode we discuss everything that we learned from the Xbox "Extended Developer Direct", hosted by the official Xbox Podcast, including a lot of gameplay related news and some pieces of lore...including two major lore dumbs: the name of the spiritual plague we are sent to investigate, and the presence of an ARCHMAGE in Avowed.
Ep. #80: Xbox Developer_Direct Breakdown for Avowed's Deep Dive
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy world/setting developed by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming action RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode is an exciting one, I go through the entire Avowed Deep Dive pulling out all the contextual lore that both old listeners and new listeners will be able to enjoy.
The topics covered today range from Souls, Companions (one named Giatta), the Aedyr Empire (where we are from), the Living Lands (where Avowed is played), Xaurips (the reptilian enemies we fight), as well as some soul-based metaphysical lore such as "The Wheel" (cycle of reincarnation) and much more...
check out avowed.obsidian.net for some Cosplay guides on Giatta or Kai, as well as some jpegs from the game.
Lastly, I recommend several episodes to go check out if you are new, here are some for you to look up:
- #1 - intro/overview to Eora
- #3 - some stuff on Living Lands (tune in to an upcoming episode for more...)
- #4-6 - All about the Aedyr Empire
- #10 - The Wheel (a very important one)
- #17 - Animancy (the science of souls)
- #25 - Magic (listen to #10 first though)
That should be enough to get you going.
Ep. #79: IMPS!!!
THE WORLD OF EORA IS A NEWS / LORE PODCAST ABOUT THE FANTASY WORLD / SETTING, EORA, AS SEEN IN OBSIDIAN ENTERTAINMENT'S CRPG SERIES, PILLARS OF ETERNITY, AND THEIR UPCOMING RPG: AVOWED
WHY IS THE DESCRIPTION IN ALL CAPS? HOPEFULLY YOU ALREADY GET IT, BUT IF YOU DON'T TODAY'S EPISODE IS ABOUT IMPS, AND THAT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. JOIN STINKYGINGER AS HE TALKS ABOUT THESE LITTLE FLYING PUTRID DEVIL CREATURES CALLED IMPS.
Ep. #78: Dwarves in Avowed? (the Pargrunen) & a 2023 Gaming Reflective...
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy setting/world created by Obsidian Entertainment, as seen in their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and the upcoming RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode focuses on a specific society of Dwarf called the "Pargrunen". They are mentioned primarily in the White March DLCs for the first Pillars game. The notable thing for this episode is that these dwarves have been to other locations in the world of Eora, including The Living Lands (where Avowed is set). So, perhaps they (or some of their culture) can be found in the game. Who knows?
In the latter half of the episode I just quickly go over my top10 list of games I enjoyed in 2023 (even though some didn't release in that year), and give shout-outs to some of YOUR personal GOTYs from 2023.

Ep. #77: Wilders, pt. I - Lagufaeths, Ogres and Eotens
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy world/setting as seen in Obsidian Entertainment's cRPG Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode discusses some "wilders", which are creatures who have sentience/intelligence (enough to even form their own cultures), but for one reason or another do not enter into the "civilized" societies we see in the world-wide playing field. In particular we look at a 4-armed amphibian race, called Lagufaeths; and the hulking, usually-hostile, Ogre race (and their Eoten cousins).
[BONUS]. Ep. #76.5: Spirits (the drinky kind, not the ghosties)
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy setting/world used in Obsidian Entertainment's cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming aRPG: Avowed.
Today's episode is just a bonus episode, no big ticket lore items to discuss, just an overview of some fantasy-made alcoholic beverages (and a few non-alcoholic) as seen within the games themselves. Mostly it was just a play on words for the title of the previous episode, also looking at "Spirits".

Ep. #76: Spirits (as in ghosts, not beverages)
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting as seen in Obsidian Entertainment's cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming RPG: Avowed.
Continuing on from last episode in the categories of 'Bestiary', today we are looking at Spirits, that is creatures which are incorporeal in nature. Typically you'd think of ghostly creatures, such as Phantoms, Shadows, Will-o-Wisp, etc.
Ep. #75: Primordial Creatures in Eora
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy setting/world for Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity cRPG series, and their upcoming RPG: Avowed.
Today we discuss a category of creature: The Primordiol, which focuses on oozes, delemgans, lurkers, and spores. We also speculate on what we might see in Avowed.

Ep. #74: The Tribes of Eir Glanfath
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy setting as seen in Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity cRPG series, and their upcoming RPG: Avowed.
Today marks a return to podcasting, for me, as I took a break recently to work on my mental health. As a result I will be returning to a bi-weekly (or is it bi-monthly?) schedule, so expect to see another episode in two more weeks.
Today's episode is about the "Tribes of Eir Glanfath", which I have talked about *a lot* in other episodes but surprisingly I don't seem to have an episode just about them. I checked, like...three times, I never found one. I don't know, either way hope you enjoy the episode.
Oh! Also, there's one part where I don't understand what it is the lore is saying...it's when I talk about travel customs in Glanfathan traditions...let me know if you understood what it was saying.
Podcast Update!
Just a quick update on myself and this podcast, there's going to be a (hopefully) brief interruption in the content, as I take some time off this month to recover from a sudden and alarming depressive bout. To be clear I am not leaving this show or abandoning it, I enjoy making the content and think it's beneficial for me overall; just at this current time I need to prioritize other areas of my life and reintroduce things like this one at a time.
If you have any questions comments concerns, (Eora related or otherwise) send me an email:
Ep. #73: [PART 2] D&D 5e Ruleset in Eora (setting) - Minimalist Transposition (Classes, Subclasses, Spells))
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting for Obsidian Entertainment's cRPG Pillars of Eternity series, as well as their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode is the second "half" of a two part series on "How to play D&D in Eora". I call it a 'brute force minimalist transposition'. How it works is that we look at the ruleset as it exists in D&D 5e, and we (with as little finicking as possible) shoe-horn that ruleset to fit into the Eoran world as a setting.
I'll be honest, TODAY's episode is where we see the most "work" needing to be done. Just to make the classes/subclasses fit with the lore, and how to approach spells (and their restrictions).
Ep. #72: D&D 5e Ruleset in Eora (setting) - Minimalist Transposition (Races, Subraces, Monsters)
Ep. #71: Various Lore from the "Pillars of Eternity TabletopRPG"
Ep. #70: Discussing "soft lore" of Fighters, Rogues and Barbarians in Eora
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting created by Obsidian Entertainment used in their cRPG Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode I'm describing as "soft lore", which means that we are using lore from other areas (particularly areas of the soul, reincarnation, and whatnot) to ask "what gives fighters/rogues/barbarians the special powers they have?" Because, here's the thing, all those classes of character in Eora are doing near-superhuman feats, and that *must* mean magic is involved somehow; but we aren't privy to a lot of definitely explanations. So, using lore we DO have, I engage in a more speculative discussion on applying the rules of the world to those classes to ascertain how it us they might work, behind the scenes. I hope you enjoy today's talk.

Ep. #69 [lol]: The Ranger Class
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting used in Obsidian Entertainment's cRPG Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode looks at the unique lore for the 'Ranger' class. If you've played or consumed fantasy media at all, you're probably familiar with the ranger character archetype (woodsman, huntsmen, good at archery, has an animal companion, makes magic berries sometimes...). Rangers are all that in Eora, but their lore goes a little deeper than that. Especially in regards to their animal companions.
Ep. #68: Vithracks (humanoid spider psionic people)
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about games and media placed in the fantasy setting/world developed by Obsidian Entertainment, particularly for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode looks at one of the unique sentient creatures that exist in the world of Eora called "Vithracks". Who I've often just called "humanoid spider psionic people". They are one of my favourite creatures in *any* fantasy setting. And if I could justifiably role-play it in-game, I'd start a non-profit "Kith Against Vithrack Abuse", spreading the word about their non-hostility (although, they can be quite hostile).
Anyways...

Ep. #67: "Forgotten Hollow", an off-screen companion adventure (good for a TableTop game)
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the unique fantasy setting/world used in Obsidian Entertainment's cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode looks at one of the off-screen companion adventures (beginning of the episode explains what that is) you encounter in the first Pillars of Eternity game. We run through the pitch/hook of the adventure, and give context on all the lore.
With a little work this adventure could be implemented into YOUR tabletop roleplaying game, even DnD 5e (whether you're playing in Faerun, Eora, or otherwise).

Ep. #66: Lichs, Void Seers, and the Story of Archmage Concelhaut
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting created for Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity cRPG series, and their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode is a follow-up from last week's episode on the Undead (such as Skeletons, Fampyrs and Revenants). This week focuses, instead, on Lichs - a very powerful and immortal form of Undead, and Void Seers (which are essentially floating magic-filled skulls). To top it all of we look at the brief story of Concelhaut, a powerful mage-turned-lich in the world of Eora.
Ep. #65: The Undead, and their "lifespan"
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting created by Obsidian Entertainment and used in their Pillars of Eternity cRPG series, as well as their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode features discussions on Undead enemies in fantasy, in particular the world of Eora. Skeletons don't just get up for no good reason, and sometimes those reasons go beyond mere "because is fantasy". Explore the lore with me, today, as we dive into the lore for Undead creatures...how they're made, what their "lifespan" is like, and what ultimately happens to them...
[BONUS] Ep. #64.5: A Court of Spirits (Minor Stronghold Adventure)
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting developed by Obsidian Entertainment for their Pillars of Eternity cRPG series, and for their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode is a short episode; I'm out of town this week volunteering at a Youth Camp, so I recorded something short and sweet just to make sure you had *something* to chew on while I was away.
Today's lore comes from a set of Stronghold Adventures from Pillars of Eternity, wherein you can send your idle companions in the game on their own adventures without you, bringing you back rewards and unique items.
This episode looks over the lore in one such minor adventure, "a Court of Spirits", which is about a group of arguing ghosts near a pillar of Adra.
Ep. #64: Yezuha & Rekke
[SPOILER WARNING: The *second* half of today's episode contains major spoilers for BOTH Pillars games, but you can safely enjoy the first half before the break spoiler-free]
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy setting/world developed by Obsidian Entertainment for their Pillars of Eternity cRPG series, and their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode is regarding one of the sidekicks from Pillars II, namely: "Rekke", a Storm Folk voiced by none other than Sam Riegel of Critical Role (actually there's a lot of CR vocal talent in this game). As well we dive into the known lore (and speculations) about where Rekke comes from, the enigmatic and intriguing hidden nation of Yezuha.
Ep. #63: The Engwithan Society
[In the second portion of today's episode there are SPOILERS For BOTH Pillars of Eternity games]
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the original fantasy world/setting developed by Obsidian Entertainment for their Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode discusses the ever-important Engwithan society that existed millenniums before the Pillars games occur and their contributions to animancy.
Ep. #62: Speculations and Theories about Avowed!!
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting used in Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode comes in the wake of all the news/videos revealed recently. I've requested and collected all sorts of speculations and theories regarding Avowed (gameplay, game systems, lore, narrative, etc.) and placed them in this episode. The first half of the episode is gameplay and game systems, the latter half is lore and narrative. There's a real bang-on theory I really like submitted by ThanksToDenial on Reddit around the 45(ish) minute mark.
Enjoy! :)
Ep. #61: Gameplay Trailer, Game Director Interviews, and News Articles ... and LORE!!!
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting for Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming first-person RPG: Avowed.
Today's episode is a special (and long) one. Recently we saw official gameplay of Avowed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, with an entire trailer to go over. As well there were some exclusive interviews with developers at Obsidian, both at the Xbox Extended Showcase, and on PCGamer.com.
In all of this news there's much to go over. The game of Avowed itself, how it feels, how it plays, and of course - the lore. So join me as I summarize all the news, then go through the gameplay trailer overviewing the lore we see showcased in that.
Request for next episode: send me your speculations and theories about Avowed, whether it's gameplay, story, or whatever (small theory, or big tinfoil hat theory)...send it all!
Avowedcast Episode #35: Reaction to 2nd Trailer
Rather than leave you guys without any content the host of Avowedcast, Tsora, sent me the audio from our latest recording with Remeran and Jesse discussing the initial reactions to the newest Avowed trailer.
For those who haven't plugged into Avowedcast, this is their most recent full episode. For those who listen to both, sorry you only get this one this week. I'll be back next week with some lore found in the latest trailer. Enjoy!
Ep. #59: Durance
SPOILERS related to Pillars of Eternity: the companion DURANCE, and his Companion side quest, "Trials of Durance".
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the world/setting for Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity games, and their upcoming release: AVOWED.
Today's episode comes by popular demand; we are looking at one of the companions you have in the first Pillars game, named Durance. He's an incredibly written character, well voice-acted, and whose story is woven deeply into the game's narrative. He's also kind of an ugly dude...
Ep. #58: Bleak Walkers
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting used in Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming release: AVOWED.
The Bleak Walkers embody the philosophy of Bleak War, which is the purposeful use of violence for a specific end. Join me today in a discussion for some of the most bad-ass and terrifying people you can encounter in Eora's lore.
Ep. #57: Folk (ie: Humans)
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy world/setting used by Obsidian Entertainment for their Pillars of Eternity games, as well as their upcoming release: AVOWED.
Today's episode looks at the human races in Eora, and their subraces. Each subrace of human is generally tied to a particular culture, so by learning the differences between humans we can know how to identify different cultures in this fantasy world.
Also, I apologize for the bad recording quality, I didn't realize until too late that the echo in the room was noticeable and my mic was picking up background noises easily. I suppose my latest software update might've reset some of those things, but that's no excuse for poor quality - I just want you to understand how it happened. I edited as much cruft as I could, but sadly there's still a little in there.

Ep. #56: Dwarves of Eora
'The World of Eora' is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy setting/world developed by Obsidian Entertainment for their Pillars of Eternity games, and their upcoming release: Avowed.
Today's episode looks at one of the races in Eora: dwarves. While most of us are familiar with a dwarf from other fantasy-based media, Obsidian's take on dwarves a little bit different. Sure, they're still short, stout and bearded, but their natural instincts and history with the world are unique compared to other settings.
Ep. #55: Eothas and his Followers
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the world/setting for Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming RPG, Avowed.
Today's episode focuses on Eothas, god of light and redemption. This one has been a long time coming, and is (frankly) too big an episode to get in all at once. This episode, surprisingly, has NO SPOILERS WHATSOEVER. So listen to your heart's content...that said, there will obviously have to be episodes in the future where we dive into the more spoilery aspects of Eothas' lore and history.
Join me today in discussing this enigmatic and deeply involved god.
Ep. #54: The Story of Od Nua, Mad-King of Engwith
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the world/setting of Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity game series and Avowed (upcoming).
Today's episode we focus on the story of a character (Od Nua) from an ancient advanced civilization (Engwithans). This story showcases the writing at Obsidian as well as the foundation for some of the major narratives in Pillars of Eternity.

[BONUS] Ep. #53.5: "The Man Who Would Be Skaen" [POE SPOILERS]
THIS EPISODE CONTAINS MAJOR NARRATIVE SPOILERS FOR PILLARS OF ETERNITY - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
"The World of Eora" is a news/lore podcast about the setting/games of Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity series and Avowed.
In today's episode we read through volume number ten (of fifteen) in a series of esoteric lore books from Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Forgotten Sanctum DLC. In this book we discover a character in Eora's past who may be the man Skaen himself...or at least... sort of. It's never that cut & dry. If you're okay with learning the spoilers behind this cryptic description, enjoy today's episode!

Ep. #53: The Quiet Slave, Skaen (God of Secret Hatred and Violent Rebellion)
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the games and fantasy setting (Eora) used for Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity series and Avowed.
Today's episode looks at one of the eleven gods in Eora's pantheon, more specifically the "evil god", Skaen. However Skaen is not just an evil god for evil's sake - there are layers to this deity and his divine purposes. He's still evil, though, no argument there...but at the very least *why* he (and his followers) are evil is misunderstood (and no, not in a tragic anti-hero kind of way). Join me in the conversation about Skaen, the Quiet Slave.
Shout-outs at the end of the episode to some Spotify listeners who've been responding to the new *automatic* QnA feature in Spotify podcasts; as well as a read-out of a 5* review on Apple Podcasts. Always love acknowledging anyone who puts effort into those little write-ups, and they make my day :)
[BONUS] Ep. #52.5: Belfetto! gingereno teaches you Vailian swear words...
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the world & setting for Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity series, and their upcoming release: Avowed.
Today's bonus episode is a short little venture into the Vailian language; just going through some examples of direct one-to-one translations of words including (of course) some "fun" words. Sprinkle some of these into your everyday use, I know I will xD

Ep. #52: The Vailian Republics
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the Obsidian Entertainment original fantasy setting created for Pillars of Eternity I & II, and AVOWED.
Today's episode focuses on one of the major factions from the first Pillars game, and is also a faction that *could* be in Avowed (though I suspect unlikely). They are one of the most interesting cultures/nations in a game I've ever played and I hope you will enjoy learning about them in today's episode.

Ep. #51: Principi Sen Patrena
The World of Eora is a news/lore podcast about the fantasy setting for Obsidian Entertainment's Pillars of Eternity games, as well as Avowed.
Today's episode focuses on the pirate faction of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire; who, sadly, I doubt we will see in Avowed, but are still interesting nonetheless. Join me today as we discuss who they are, their history/origin, and their culture/values.

[BONUS] Ep. 50.5: An Episode for My Mom, amongst others.
This episode of the WORLD OF EORA is a unique one, in that I am aiming to bring up to speed those out there listening to don't know *anything* about the what the show is about...be it about the fictional fantasy world called "eora", or the Pillars of Eternity games.
I know of a couple people who listen to just like the show, even though they haven't heard of what most of the content is about; as well, I know of others who listen to this show alongside their significant others.
This episode is for you.
As for you long-time listeners, or new-to-the-show-but-knowledgable-about-the-content ... feel free to pass this episode along to people you want to introduce this niche topic to.
